Schon wieder Freitag

... werden einige sagen, weil sie nicht gemerkt haben, wie die Woche an ihnen vorbeigehuscht ist. Andere fristen ihr Leben lang wie Robinson Crusoe dahin, indem sie immer auf Freitag warten. Es ist eine hohe Kunst, seine Zeit "auszukaufen" - eine Kunst, die wir unser Leben lang wohl erlernen müssen - ich jedenfalls. Dabei ist es mir immer wichtiger geworden, den Augenblick zu erleben und zu genießen: ein athemberaubender Sonnenuntergang, ein Lächeln des Kindes, ein frischer Wind (besonders bei diesem Sommer!), ein Abend mit Freunden, aber auch das (Er-) Tragen der Spannung einer (Not-) Situation und das Gefühl eigener Hilflosigkeit. In all den Dingen und in jedem Augenblick Gott sehen und erleben, das ist wirklich zeitlos.

Lehrstück des manipulativ-populistischen Journalismus

Auf ARD lief am 20.07. in der Sendung PANORAMA ein Bericht über Calling All Nations in Berlin unter dem Tilel "Kampf den Dämonen – Radikale Christen in Deutschland". Das ist für mich ein klassisches Beispiel des manipulativ-populistischen Journalismus. Hier wird auf Christen richtig Hexenjagt gemacht:

O-Ton: Das Berliner Olympiastadion am vergangenen Samstag. Etwa 20.000 Menschen feiern einen Massen-Gottesdienst – die meisten von ihnen sind radikale Christen. Ihr fester Glaube: Sie befinden sich in einem ständigen Kampf gegen den Teufel und seine Dämonen. Für alles Schlechte auf der Welt werden die finsteren Mächte verantwortlich gemacht. Alles Schlechte – das sind für die radikalen Christen Kriege, Katastrophen und Krankheiten. Aber auch Homosexuelle und Andersgläubige. In Workshops und Seminaren lehren selbsternannte Prediger, wie Dämonen erkannt und ausgetrieben werden können. Sie sind davon überzeugt, dass jeder befreit und geheilt werden kann – er muss nur richtig glauben. Dabei versprechen die Prediger viel: Lahme können wieder gehen, Blinde sehen, Tote werden auferweckt. Wer nicht geheilt wird, ist selbst schuld, glaubt nicht genug oder hat gesündigt. Aussteiger schildern, wie sie unter diesem psychischen Druck zusammengebrochen sind.

Buch auf meinem Wunschzettel

Ich habe bereits die "Popularversion" des Buches gelesen: "Der Geist Gottes und die Gemeinde" und war sehr angetan. Gordon Fee ist ein brillianter Exeget, Theologe und zugleich "sehr erfrischend charismatisch". Er stellt in seinen Studien der paulinischen Schriften die zentrale Bedeutung des Heiligen Geistes für das Leben im "Königreich Gottes" heraus. Immer wieder überrascht er mich mit seiner exegetischen Nüchternheit und charismatischen Überschwenglichkeit, die aus einer authentischen Beziehung zum Heiligen Geist resultiert. Das Buch (und die Person des Autors!) ist eine Rarität auf dem "charismatischen Sektor". Will ich haben ...

Kritische Stimmen zu "Emergent Church"

"Emerging Church" ist derzeit in aller Munde. Auch ich beschäftige mich seit einigen Monaten intensiv mit dem Thema. In dieser Bewegung gibt es, wie in anderen auch, inzwischen verschiedene Strömungen, Trends und Theologien (den Besitz der letzteren würden viele emCh-Leader verneinen). Heute las ich einen kritischen Kommentar (für meine Begriffe sehr einseitig!) zur Bewegung von der Calvary Chappel Church. Hier die Kritik an der Bewegung in 8 Punkten:

1. That Jesus is not the only way by which one might be saved. It seems that they are postulating a broader gate and a broader path to heaven, a sort of "all roads lead to heaven." That good people by every religious persuasion may be received into heaven. We feel that this goes against the plain teaching of the Scriptures and negates the need of the cross for the expiation of our sins. Paul wrote of those men in his letter to the Philippians and called them enemies of the cross of Christ. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no man can come to the Father but by Me." This is not relative truth, but absolute truth.
   
2. The soft peddling of hell as the destiny for those who reject the salvation offered through Jesus Christ. There are suggestions of universalism in their teaching, that all will ultimately be saved.
   
3. We have difficulty in their touchy-feely relating to God. Where the experience of certain feelings become the criteria for truth rather than the word of God.
   
4. We have great problems with the use of icons to give them a sense of God or the presence of God. If they want to have a tie with the historicity of the church, why not go back to the church in Acts, which seems to be devoid of incense, candles, robes etc., but was filled with the Spirit.
   
5. We do not believe that we should seek to make sinners feel safe and comfortable in church. Is it right for me to speak comfortable words to a man who is going to hell unless he turns from his sin? If I fail to warn him of the consequences of his sin, and he dies and goes to hell, will God require his blood at my hand? When is godly sorrow and conviction of sin such a wrong thing?
   
6. Should we seek to condone what God has condemned, such as the homosexual lifestyle? Should we tell them that their problem is a genetic disorder rather than a blatant sin that God condemns over and over in the Bible? How long before they tell us that they have discovered that rapists, pedophiles, and adulterers have a genetic disorder and need to be understood rather than condemned?
   
7. Should we look to Eastern religions with their practices of meditation through Yoga and special breathing techniques or repeating a mantra to hear God speak to us? If this is needed to enhance our communication with God, why do you suppose that God did not give us implicit instructions in the Scriptures to give us methods to hear His voice? Is it the position of my body or my heart that helps me to communicate with Him?
   
8. The great confusion that exists in the divergent positions of the Emergent Church results from their challenging the final authority of the Scriptures. When you no longer have a final authority, then everyone's ideas become as valid as the next person's, and it cannot help but end in total confusion and contradictions.

Anbetung und Fülle des Heiligen Geistes

Es gibt einen direkten Zusammenhang zwischen wahrer Anbetung und der Erfüllung mit dem Heiligen Geist. In Epheser 5,18-20:

"Betrinkt euch nicht; das führt nur zu einem liederlichen Leben. Laßt euch vielmehr von Gottes Heiligem Geist erfüllen. Singt miteinander Psalmen, und lobt den Herrn mit Liedern, wie sie euch sein Geist schenkt. Singt und jubelt aus vollem Herzen! Und immer gilt: Im Namen unseres Herrn Jesus Christus dankt Gott, dem Vater, zu jeder Zeit, überall und für alles!"

Im griechischen Original wird der Zusammenhang noch deutlicher: Werdet voll Geist (= imperativ), indem ihr singt ..., lobt ..., dankt ... usw. (= partizip).

Glücklichste Menschen der Welt leben auf Pazifikinsel Vanuatu

Die glücklichsten Menschen der Welt leben angeblich in Vanuatu, einer kleinen Insel im Südpazifik. Das ergab eine am Mittwoch veröffentlichte Studie der britischen Ideenschmiede New Economics Foundation. Die Verfasser untersuchten die Zufriedenheit der Bevölkerung, ihre Lebenserwartung und den Umgang mit der Umwelt.

«Die Menschen hier sind glücklich, weil sie mit sehr wenig zufrieden sind», erklärte Marke Lowen von «Vanuatu Online», der Online-Zeitung der Inselrepublik, das Ergebnis. «Wir haben hier keine konsumorientierte Gesellschaft. Das Leben dreht sich um die Familie und die Gemeinschaft», sagte Lowen der Zeitung «The Guardian» über die 200'000 Bewohner von Vanuatu. «Es ist ein Ort, an dem man sich nicht viele Sorgen macht.» Angst hätten die Menschen nur vor Wirbelstürmen und Erdbeben. Die Schweiz placierte sich auf Platz 65 und damit im Mittelfeld. Sie lag aber vor Ländern wie Deutschland (81.), Kanada (111.), Schweden (119.) oder den USA (150.). Ganz hinten landeten Simbabwe, Burundi, Kongo-Kinshasa und die Ukraine.

Perspektiven für das 21ste Jahrhundert?

Ich bin jahrelang in der Gemeindegründung in Deutschland tätig gewesen und bin wieder einmal dran ein Resümee zu ziehen. Ich beobachte, dass viele Gemeindegründungen nach den euphorischen Anfangsjahren ins Stocken geraten sind - Stagnation. Andere sind lediglich Clone der "Muttergemeinde", keine wirklichen Neuanfänge. Viel des propagierten Wachstums lediglich "Transferwachstum" ist - rechte Tasche, linke Tasche und dass das Reich Gottes in den letzten 10 Jahren (in D) kaum nennenswertes Wachstum zu verzeichnen hatte. Was ist los in D? Wer leidet auch an dieser Situation?
